The RAVO story

  The beginning

  RAVO’s history began in 1964 in Alkmaar when Koster & Van Batenburg, a trading company in sweepers, vacuum and garbage trucks, established ILPERA B.V. as an assembly company. Four years later Mr K.W.M. van Raaij became the director of ILPERA and in 1971 he invented the first compact street sweeper: the ILP 4000. In 1978, Mr Van Raaij took over ILPERA and renamed it RAVO. From that moment the ILP 4000 was called the RAVO 4000.f

  A bright future

  The real breakthrough came in 1980 when the city of Rome ordered 26 sweeping machines. In the years that followed, RAVO continued to grow and a bright future lay ahead. That did not go unnoticed in the United States of America. In 1991, the company was taken over by Federal Signal Corporation and as a result RAVO changed its focus away from American market. But new machines followed each other in rapid succession with which the company conquered Europe. However, Federal Signal stopped investing in the growth and development of RAVO and production was transferred to other countries. This was a difficult time for the company. In 2009, the partnership came to an end after eighteen years.

  Things got better

  In that same year, RAVO became part of the Fayat Group, a French family business with a network of over 130 autonomous companies and things soon improved. The company was given every opportunity to grow and was supported in entering the American market again. Since 2017, RAVO has been part of a business unit together with street sweeper manufacturers Mathieu and Scarab called Fayat Environmental Solutions. With over 150 years of combined experience, together they offer a full product range of street sweepers and complete solutions for customers all over the world.
